Elessina

Elessina is our 60ft x 12'-6" Replica Dutch Barge, built by Piper Boats at Stoke on Trent. She is fully painted with collapsible wheel house, working engine, steering and partly lined internally.

By September 2004 we had started the internal fit-out, some kitchen units in place, just started electrics and plumbing

We are now around 80% complete, but taking a summer break and will pick up tools again in October 2005

We will be at the DBA Chatham barge rally over the August Bank holiday weekend. If you wish to take a look over Elessina, Sunday 28th August will be a good time to do so. Depending on weather etc, there is likely to be between 15 and 20 barges at Chatham (17 booked up to Aug-17), most barges at the rally will be open to DBA member visitors on this Sunday between 11:00am and 3:00pm. If you are not DBA members, our's and maybe 1 or 2 others will be open to non DBA members. For more info email Ian by clicking here . If you have a barge, why not come along. £80 mooring for 4 nights (normally it would cost us over £40 per night).  But you need to be a DBA member. For more info on joining the DBA  see:-

There is a lot to see at Chatham, including the historic dockyard which is celebrating the Battle of Trafalgar 200 years ago (Nelson's HMS Victory was built at Chatham). See

We will be moored inside Chatham Maritime Marina, which is in part of the old royal dockyard and operated by MDL marinas.  Chatham Historic Dockyard will be holding its Maritime Festival as part of the SeaBritain 2005 celebrations over the August Bank holiday weekend, which is only 10 minutes walk away from the marina.

This will be our 5thd Open day, the 1st two were at Piper Boats (on 20th March & 2nd May 2004), both attracted round 40 visitors. The last 2 were on our mooring at Port Medway Marina last September (2004) and May (2005) . We enjoyed meeting new friends and 'email' contacts. Judging by the feedback, all enjoyed the occasion.
