A little about us

After inspection at Liverpool Boats on December 4th 1999, we were given a final completion date of December 9th.

I arranged the transportation and crane. But a few days before the 9th, Liverpool Boats advised that it would be a couple of days late, luckily both crane and transportation companies were flexible, and changing it to the 13th was no problem at all. In fairness Liverpool Boats always promised delivery in December, and they kept to their promise, so no complaints. Spot on time, at around 11:am on the 13th the boat arrived, having traveled some 300 miles along the M6, M1, M25 and A12.

The crane-in was at Paper Mill lock, on the Chelmer and Blackwater Canal in Essex (near Chelmsford). Paper Mill Lock is only accessible via a narrow country lane, how the truck and trailer with Isabella managed to travel along the lane I do not know, but I had been advised that it had been done before. It was cold and raining, but none the less crane in was fascinating but uneventful.

Paper Mill Lock is some 4 locks down from our mooring at Sandford Mill Lock. The canal was in flood that day, making opening of the locks very difficult, so we motored the boat up river to the 1st lock (Little Baddow), where we left it until the following weekend, when we moved it to its new mooring and fit-out. No problems.
