Isabella - Galley Fit out |
The galley / kitchen is 'U' shaped, with cupboards both side of the boat. I used the MFI carcasses for the oven housing, sink and fridge. They had to be adapted a little (cut back in depth), but it was much quicker than constructing from new. We purchased the round stainless steel sink from Ikea, with hard wood chop board / sink cover. Mixer taps and work top tiles from B&Q. Worktops are MDF, with tiles secured by cork tile adhesive.
This shows the 'U' shape configuration. Fridge sits under unit at bottom of photo. Sink goes under the window. Oven to the left side of the drawer unit.
Kitchen units / carcasses being installed
Hob & sink cut outs are now finished.
The oven fits into the space under the hob cut out (to the left of the drawer unit).

These carcasses are under construction. Very simple framework, with MDF base and work top. Note the battery B& D quotro drill, indispensable.
Work tops are now tiled, the s/s sink is under the round pine chopping board. Fridge has a cardboard cover over door for protection during fit out. The framework of the glass display unit over the fridge is taking shape, this separates the lounge area from the galley, it has glasses both sides, purchased from MFI..
A shallow dresser between galley and lounge is installed.
5 months after work commenced.
Now more or less finished, these two photos are taken from the lounge.
July 2000.
9 months after work commenced.
The double sided glass display unit (MFI) provides a good division between lounge and galley, without loosing light. Viewed from the stern, looking forward,
The double sided glass display unit, viewed from the front, looking rearwards. It hinges from the top.
