We have lived aboard Gypsy in Holland since February 2002 and have enjoyed spacious comfortable living. The boat is very and light and airy inside with more headroom than most. In the depths winter the central heating (diesel fired boiler) to radiators throughout the boat has kept us snug and warm. In late spring and early autumn, when the central heating was off we lit the wood burning stove in the evenings. In high summer, because several windows throughout the boat are completely removable, we had ample fresh air. (The windows in the wheelhouse are lowered and raised hydraulically.)
All the windows are double glazed with 6mm armoured glass; these together with the steel doors both fore and aft afford a high level of security.
We particularly like the ease of getting around -
From the quay or bank there a three wide steps with handrail down to the aft cockpit; a full size steel door leads to the wheelhouse. There are three wide shallow steps down to the saloon, from there forward the floor is level. There are wide steps from the master bedroom to the forward cockpit through a glazed steel sliding door.
For outside living the roof makes a good upper deck and the awning and side-screens on stainless steel removable supports make a very large sheltered area for social occasions. Access to the roof from the rear cockpit is by wide steps with hand rail.
Gypsy’s 25hp hydraulic bow-thruster and large hydraulic rudder allows manoeuvring in tight spaces with confidence. The boat may be steered by wheel in the wheelhouse or by tiller from the rear cockpit. The engine controls are duplicated.
The electric winches both fore and aft take the strain out of warping and anchoring.
Fully equipped for living and priced at £145,000.

In my opinion the 2 best web pages for buying and selling barges are:-
The DBA web site at http://www.barges.org/main.php?section=1887 which normally has around 50 barges for sale including a few new builds, and the
ApolloDuck web site http://barges.apolloduck.com/ which normally has around 150 barges for sale.
If you have a new build barge for sale, send me the details and I will post it here on the barging.co.uk web site free of charge. You can include as much information as you wish (the more the better) including up to 10 photos and a layout plan if available. Barges must be less than 20 years old.
If you wish to place a trade advert on these pages the cost will be from around £50
If you are looking to buy a second hand new build barge, send me your requirements and I will post them here on the barging.co.uk web site free of charge
